27th July, 2013, Budapest: On Sunday, British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton registered his first win with Mercedes as he won the Hungarian Grand Prix. The 2008 champion got the chequered flag eleven seconds clear of Lots’ Kimi Raikkonen who took the second place. Defending champion, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel came in 3rd at Hungaroring.
It was Hamilton’s 22nd career podium finish. After the race, Hamilton said, “It’s an incredible feeling and I’d like to thank all the fans here,”
“My team did an incredible job, we studied a lot last night and were hoping the tyres would last.” He added that it was one of the best and most important race of his career. to change teams and to win for Mercedes Benz.
Australia’s Mark Webber finished 4th, while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso ended 6th position.
After this race, Sebastian Vettel still leads driver’s championship with 172 points, followed by Kimi Raikkonen (134 points) and Fernando Alonso (133 points).
