25th June, 2012, Valencia: It was a kind of a reunion for Ferrari as their Spanish driver Fernando Alonso shared the podium with former Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Michael Schumacher yesterday at the European Grand Prix in Valencia. With this win, Alonso became the very first driver to two races in this season.
The incident packed race also saw defending champion Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren going out of the race. While Vettle had problems with his car, Hamilton’s car collided with Williams driver Pastor Maldonaldo’s car near the end of the race when the British driver was running at the second position. Even though Raikkonen made it to the podium, but still the day might have been even better for Lotus, but Romain Grosjean’s stopped during the race when he was at the second position.
A tearful Fernando Alonso gave an emotional speech following his win at home. He told that it was more of his own feelings as well as the people in the grandstands. This win was really amazing for him as Spain is going through a tough time at this point of time. This is probably the best win in terms of emotion. Nothing can be compared with this one.
