5th June, 2012, New Delhi: On Monday, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar started a new innings as he became the Member of Parliament. The master blaster had the choice to take the oath in Marathi, Hindi or English, but he chose Hindi.
Sachin became the very first active sports personality to enter Parliament. After the oath, while speaking to reporters, he stated that he just wants to be recalled as a person who served to the nation, not as a person with smashing cricket stats and that would be really fantastic. In previous twenty-two years of his international career, cricket has given him a lot and with this nomination he thinks that he is in a much better spot not only to serve cricket, but also other sports. In his path, he needs everyone’s support, starting from administrators, parliamentarians, countrymen to media.
He also added that he did not go to anyone and asked for a Rajya Sabha membership and now he is really honored to be a member of Rajya Sabha. Cricket is something where it all started and he cannot take his focus away from the game.
