2nd June, 2012, New Delhi: Having guided KKR to the IPL victory, India opener Gautam Gambhir told that he is prepared to lead the Indian test side as it is the biggest honor and this is where the character and mental toughness is tested.
He has heard his name flying as the next India captain. He believes that it is a successful tem that makes a successful captain and not the other way round. The Delhi boy has played in 134 one day internationals and 48 test matches for the national team.
While speaking about this year’s IPL, he told that they had some very close matches and this reveals the quality of cricket in IPL. There are many games that went till the last over. It is good that several players have made their way to the national team and also done well. He thinks that IPL has given a bigger pool of players which is necessary considering the amount of cricket these days.
Sharing his view about the controversies in IPL this year, he added that one cannot blame BCCI or the IPL for all that as it is tough for them to monitor or control every player, but franchises have to be very strict.
