18th August, 2012, New Delhi: One of the fine middle order batsmen in the world of cricket, VVS Laxman, is thinking over retirement after the end of the 2 – match test series against New Zealand. The Hyderabadi is visibly annoyed by the statements that he is blocking the scopes for young players.
It is expected that he will announce his retirement today or tomorrow. The thirty-seven year old batsman played his first test against South Africa in 1996. He played 134 test matches and scored 8781 runs in which he hit 565 half – centuries and 17 centuries. He also played in 86 one day international matches scoring 2338 runs with 6 centuries.
At first, he was not interested to play the test matches against the Kiwis. Later he agreed to play in the series. The two test matches will be played in Hyderabad and in Bangalore. Incidentally, this would be his 2nd test match in his own city Hyderabad.
