13th August, 2012, London: England batsman Kevin Pietersen’s career stays in doubt after the batsman was left for the must win Lord’s test match in spite he decided to make himself available to all formats of the game. However, Pirtersen insists that his international cricket career will continue in spite of this decision.
The English selectors did not select Kevin in the thirteen men team for the final test match against South Africa. He was replaced by Jonathan Bairstow. Kevin made himself available for the national squad in all three formats that would ensure his selection for the test against his native country South Africa.
According to reports, Pietersen sent text messages to many South African cricketers with offensive remarks about coach Andy Flower and skipper Andrew Strauss during the second test match at Headingley.
In a statement, Kevin Pietersen told that the whole episode had been demoralizing for him and his family. Still, none of this constitutes the end of his international cricket career.
“The second Test was a marked improvement on our performance at the start of the series, but we are aware we will need to play some very good cricket this week if we are to level this series.”
“While there were ‘positives’ to take from a number of areas at Headingley, we know we will need to show further improvement if we are to win at Lord’s,“ said the statement.
