Rajasthan Royals received a huge blow as three key players sustained injuries in the last game against Delhi Daredevils is Ahmedabad.
The biggest set back for the Jaipur based team is the loss of South African captain and opener, Graeme Smith. The stylish batsmen was ruled out for the reminder of the third edition of the Indian Premier League after breaking a finger while taking a brilliant catch during the match against Delhi Daredevils in Ahmedabad yesterday.
Smith injured is finger during South Africa’s tour to India early this year. According to reports, Smith has aggravated the injury on his little finger. The news was confirmed after he was taken for scans this morning. Graeme Smith will now fly back to South Africa and hopefully he should recover before the T20 World Cup.
Dmitri Mascarenhas and Yusuf Pathan are doubtful for the next few games. Mascarenhas had twisted his ankle and Yusuf Pathan injured his shoulder while fielding.
A worried captain, Shane Warne was upset over the injuries sustained by three of his key players.
“Yusuf might`ve popped something in his shoulder. Not much to smile about, outplayed in everything, and injuries to three pretty big players as well. Can`t get much worse than that,” he said.
“He [Mascarehnas] was only limping, though he could hardly walk. He showed a lot of courage to come out and bowl. His ankle is in ice,” said Warne.
