1st August, 2012, Colombo: A brilliant 128 not out innings by Virat Kohli helped India to beat Sri Lanka in the 4th one day international in Colombo. With this 6 wicket win India also managed to secure the ODI series. Virat, who scored his 2nd century of the tour, hit one six and twelve 4s.
Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. The home team made 251 runs in fifty overs. Opener Upul Tharanga made 51 runs in 73 balls and he was supported well by another opener Dilshan who made 42 (48). For India, part time bowler Manoj Tiwary bowled his career best figure 61 for 4 wickets. Tiwary, a middle order batsman, was one of the part time bowlers used by Dhoni to cover the 5th bowler.
In reply, the start was not good for the visitors as India lost their first wicket when it was 0 on the scoreboard. With Sehwag (34), India lost their second wicket. But later it was all about Kohli. Later Suresh Raina, who made 58 in 51 balls, shared an unbroken partnership of 146 runs to get past the target. India made 255 runs in 42.2 overs with loss of 4 wickets. Now India leads the 5 – match ODI series 3 – 1. This was also the 400th ODI victory for India.
