27th September, 2013, Ranchi: Chennai Super Kings sealed a 12 run win over Sunrisers at the JSCA Stadium on Thursday. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings made 202 in 20 overs losing 4 wickets thanks to captain MS Dhoni’s 63 in 19 balls and Suresh Raina’s aggressive 87. Chasing 203, Sunrisers made 191 for 7 wickets. Sunrisers had a stunning first wicket 88 run partnership between captain Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel.
After the match, Chennai Super Kings captain Dhoni told, “We got off to a good start and it was important to build on that. A total of 180 plus was easily chased here so considering that the perfect platform we got from Badrinath and Raina, I looked to hit hard and it worked.”
Dhoni also praised the fast bowlers. He added, “The wicket was good as the game progressed. There was more dew on the field later on and the ball was coming on nicely. It was difficult for the fast bowlers to execute and it worked well for us who used variations.”
“I think the bowlers did a good job but I feel there were situations where we could have closed the overs well, say after giving a boundary in the first few balls of the over.”
