30th April, 2012, New Delhi: Rahul Dravid, the Rajasthan Royals skipper credited South African bowler Morne Morkel for Daredevils’ 1 run victory against them, on Sunday, at the Frozeshah Kotla stadium in New Delhi.
Morkel bowled the 19th over, in which he took the wicket of Brad Hodge – giving away only 3 runs. This left Royals with 12 runs in the last over. Visitors came very close to secure a win as they had to score 2 runs in the last ball, but Naman Ojha ran out Owais Shah and thus giving away the match to Delhi.
Batting first Delhi scored 152 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Virender Sehwag was the highest scorer with 63 runs. In reply, Rajasthan Royals managed to score 151 in 20 overs, losing only three wickets. Ajinkya Rahane, for the visitors, made 84 in just 63 balls.
After the match the Rajasthan Royals skipper told the reporters that the game was in Rajasthan’s favor till the 18th over; they did really well and had a lot of wickets. He also felt that they must have attempted to end the match quite early, but they were unlucky to miss this scope.
“We needed the points more than Delhi, they are sitting at the top of the table already. We are a young team, we have lost two ball games, it hurts, I feel bad for the boys, they are giving their best.”
“Every time we are under the pump we comeback strongly, we fight hard, we are clever with our plans. Our bowling today was superb. It was exceptional the way we bowled against a strong Delhi batting line-up. Our young bowling attack was terrific but I’m sure we’ll bounce back.” added Dravid.
In another match of the day, Mumbai Indians beat Deccan Chargers by 5 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai, in a low scoring game.
