6.0 magnitude earthquake struck China’s Sichuan province

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 stuck western Chinese provinces of Sichuan & Gansu on Tuesday. There were no immediate reports of any causalities or damage.
The epicentre of this earthquake was about 1,253 km from southwest of Beijing. The Olympic torch was paraded in the capital of earthquake-hit Sichuan province on Tuesday on its journey to Beijing, where the Games will open on Friday.

Tornado killed 3 in northern France

Tornado hit Northern France

At least three people have been killed in a tornado that hits northern France, damaging some homes & uprooted trees along its path. The tornado swept through the Lille region’s town of Hautmont & three other communities shortly before midnight on Sunday.
The local prefecture says 13 people have been hospitalised for injuries & three others killed as a result of the tornado.

At least 130 pilgrims have been killed & around 200 others injured on Sunday in a stampede at Naina Devi temple in Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh.

Bomb Blast in Kolkata killed 4, 5 injured

A bomb blast rocked north Kolkata on Sunday in which four killed & five injured. Bomb blast occurred in Chitpur area of Kolkata. The cause of the blast is yet to known.
On June 30th, Kolkata had been placed on high alert after an e-mail from the terrorist group India Mujahideen to a TV channel and other media houses warned of blasts at the Calcutta High Court & at a top private hospital.

Uma Bharti arrested in Jammu

Uma Bharti, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, was detained on Saturday in Jammu. Uma Bharti arrived at Jammu airport on Saturday morning from New Delhi & was to address a press conference in Jammu but police took her into custody. She was later taken to Udhampur district.

Earthquake struck California, Los Angeles

An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 struck Los Angeles on Tuesday, rocked buildings across Southern California. There were no major structural damage.
The quake hit at 11:42 am local time. The epicentre of this earthquake was about 48 km east of Los Angeles in suburban Chino Hills.
It was followed in the next few hours by more than two dozen aftershocks, the largest measuring 3.6 & geologists said there was a small chance it could be a foreshock to a larger earthquake still ….

Punjab government & Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal is failed to reduce Power cuts in the state. Punjab residents are facing one of the worst power crisis situations in the state even during the ongoing rainy season, as the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) has imposed power cuts up to eight hours per day, due to the severe shortage of supply.

18 unexploded bombs discovered in Surat

Surat Police has on Tuesday discovered 18 exploded bombs in Surat. The bombs were found in Varachha Road area. The bombs have been defused.

5 killed, 12 injured in blast at Batamaloo bus stand in Srinagar

At least five people have been killed & more than 15 injured after a grenade blast at the busy Batamaloo bus stand in Srinagar on Thursday. Unidentified persons hurled a grenade on a Jammu-bound bus at the bus stand located in the periphery of Lal Chowk in afternoon.
The injured were immediately admitted to the nearby hospital. The grenade was hurled when the group of labourers from other states were boarding a bus to Jammu on way to their native places.

Earthquake struck Japan

A strong earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu on Saturday. The US Geological Survey said that the 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck beneath the north Pacific Ocean, 123 km from east northeast of Iwaki, Japan at a depth of 40 km.
