Chandrakant Gokhale, Veteran actor, passed away in a private hospital following a cancer in Pune on Friday. He was 87 years old. He was died at 8: 45 a.m. on Friday.
Gokhale acted in 68 Marathi & 16 Hindi films besides 64 Marathi plays & several Marathi TV serials over a span of 75 years.
He remained active despite illness & featured in this year’s award winning Marathi film “Walu”.

Bijal Joshi gangrape case: Five sentenced for life

Five persons have been sentenced to life imprisonment by Ahmedabad court on Friday in Bijal Joshi rape case. However, the court acquitted seven others due to lack of evidence. Bijal Joshi, 24 years old, who was lured into the city’s Ashoka Hotel, was gangraped on the night of December 31, 2003 by her boyfriend Sajal Jain & his friends.

Amarnath yatra suspended due to heavy rains

The Amarnath Yatra has been suspended on Friday due to heavy rains near the cave shrine & along the route of the pilgrimage in South Kashmir Himalayas.
No new batch of pilgrims was allowed to move to the shrine in Anantnag district from Jammu in view of heavy rains, a private news agency reported.
The road from Pahalgam to cave & Baltal to cave has become slippery in view of the rain. The two-month-long yatra was started on June 18.

4 Pak soldiers killed in ambush along LoC

Four Pakistani soldiers have been killed & three others injured when an army patrol was attacked by unidentified assailants in a thickly forested area along the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The flood situation in Midnapore district of West bengal has been turned worse on Thursday with fresh
