May 30 — While I was searching the searches of people on Google, I came across many of them asking what is GMP Diecast. So, I thought to write some details of it in the Your Voice section of this news magazine.

GMP Diecast is a company that is specialized in making premium replicas of beloved cars such as the American muscle cars and Europear cars. The company started just two decades before, in 1991 by Tom Long, now holds the designation of President in GMP. The company always stepped upwards on the ladder of success since its inception.

The GMP Diecast cars are in fact unique. The most popular of them includes the 1932 Ford Vintage Deuce Series and tom’s garage cars.

Recently GMP announced the release of second model of 1:18th scale Corvettes. It is a 1965 Corvette Coupe. The car is finished in Nassau blue and have matching blue interior.

Tom Long said, “The Red Corvette Roadster sold much quicker than we anticipated and right now we’re almost completely out of stock…. so it seemed like the perfect time to continue the roll out of this line of Corvettes with the new ’65 Corvette Coupe”

May 15 — Debate on multilateral action to control the Green House Gas emission has long polarized between developed and developing countries. India has been in the eye of storm since 1980, due its initiative to include poverty and development in the widening sphere. India has never been in the favour of buying the opinion of developed countries, which have been responsible for the current scenario.

Today, the economy of the country can directly be linked with the rate of carbon emission. The reports suggest that per-capita production of the carbon of the developed country is much more than developing countries. And putting a cap in the industrialization of the developing country will only symbolize the guilt of the developed countries.

Climate conservationist of the modern world with a well-orchestrated media campaigns have demonstrated India and China dirty villains on the block. If we cry for the development, we are staged at the most vulnerable side. The seriousness of the issue has dissolved into a blame game. The hysteria is growing and so is the inaction.

Surprisingly, one of the leaders of the movement, US is crowned as the largest polluter. As per the Kyoto Protocol (2009), the world agreed to cut down its emission by 5.2% by year 2008 -2012. It is important to notice that we are nowhere close to achieving the target. Not only US walked out straight of the agreement, but Europe too found it difficult to achieve the small target.

Quotes-Unquotes on Climate Change

US President Barack Obama, July 2008: “I strongly agree with Vice President Gore that we cannot drill our way to energy independence, but must fast-track investments in renewable sources of energy like solar power, wind power and advanced biofuels.”

Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama, November 2009:”Global issues should be number one,” “In some cases, in order to protect global issues some sacrifice for national interest is worth it in the long run. Global warming, these things, they suffer everybody.”

Al Gore, December 2008: “We can’t negotiate the facts. We can’t negotiate the truth about the situation. And for those who are too fearful to finish, it can be done and must be done. Make sure we succeed, . . . It is wrong for this generation to destroy the habitability of our planet and ruin the prospects of every future generation.”

May 1- It’s thoughtful, why we celebrate May 1st as the International Labour’s Day. Apart from the social science students and lectures, how many are now aware of the May Day importance! I wonder, there are employees who are compelled to go office even this Saturday also still 66 countries worldwide celebrate May 1 as International Labor Day.

It is no matter how we celebrate Labour Day or how many countries celebrate the May Day while some celebrate on the first Monday of September.

There are workers who are always complaining about their timing and work pressure in office. In the other hand, the scenes are extremely pathetic as many of the people apart from the white collar workforce, still not aware of their rights and favours even after more than a century of their successful celebration of 8-Hour work day.

Though, India started to go on with Labour week initiation since 1927 May 1, Labour day here is a national holiday. However, most of us not knowing how illegal if a company open in this date as they can be punished off 50,000 Rs penalty if the case is filed.

Well, when we start to complain if we can have a look on the farmers we feel more comfort what we are getting. I’m not talking about agriculture labours, but farmers. Most of the Labours can raise their rights and stick to work only for eight hours- the perfect 7:59:59 hours.

But, it’s so pity when we see how the lower middle class farmers work on their farm to feed their children and themselves. Are they working only the perfect 8-Hour a day? We all are feeding because they work hard and spent more time on their field. Spending money over food never meant that we giving the reward to them but award. Are they getting 8-Hour recreation and 8-Hour sleep while we celebrate the holiday and complaining about the extra-half an hour which we spent in office?

I think this May Day we should have to make a rethinking on the Farmers, especially the lower middle class farmers.

By ASHISH Saket

Amidst the sordid tale of cricket in vain, IPL declared its winner. While Chennai super emerged as the king in the battle, the showdown for the BCCI began. The president of BCCI was issued a show cause notice for alleged involvement in the financial fiddling or legal irregularities. As a show stopper, Lalit modi made IPL a grand success right with currencies flowing in. Every success has its formula. What was the formula of success for IPL? No one ever delved into the truth behind grand show or every one showed enough confidence on Mr. President, who made all the decisions and even favors to the influential people, politicos and his relatives.

The governing authority of the IPL comprised of industrialists, former cricketers, lawyers, political figures and other influential people. Luminaries included known names such Arun jaitely, Rajiv Shukla, Farooque Abdullah, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and many more. With people of high such high repute; the control board had no control over the ethics of the business…so called Indian Premier League. A glimpse on the balance sheet of the game would have been enough to sort out irregularities. But either no one had time or they were contended with the share of profit they were entitled to.

The faux behind the game came to light only when the rhetoric Minister Shashi Tharoor made a comment in his blog. Once again tweeting gave rise to a tornado that had enough force to blow up the complete panel. But the board played on the safe side and made a suspension of the accused. The next meeting held in the evening will once again decide the fate of IPL. The committee is expected to come up with cleansing action and a secure plan that will reinforce the trust of the public in the game of the glamour. After all, cricket lovers of India are the biggest stakeholders in the game.

By SHUBHAJIT Chakraborty

The excitement of Commonwealth Games seems a gloomy picture for en masse. The work began in 2006 with a considerable high budget of Rs. 22,000 crore. Today after four years, it has touched a whopping Rs. 30,000 crore. The 40 percent increased in budget cost heavily on common men, if not the politicians. The constant increasing demand of improving infrastructure has bestowed a queer realization of government that everything would be achieved if things could be forced to people. And the result is more queerer; steep increase in taxes and roll back crucial subsidies.

Everyone wants to know what went wrong. The state government as usual take shelter under the inflation bug but the ground reality shows a different picture of government sheer mismanagement and authoritative mind set.

The whole planning circled around the Commonwealth Game has gone terribly wrong. The major projects have been delayed primarily the Commonwealth Village, which had a budget of Rs 465 crore in 2004 and now Rs 1400 crore. A large number of apartments are still to be sold and pathetic condition of government forced to buy them off contractors.

Traffic and communication infrastructure budget also saw a grand leap. Its budget for 2004 was Rs 40 crore and in 2010, it has risen to Rs 80 crore. And sarcastically, the common people are quite apprehensive about low floor buses and rather quite furious about the steep rise in bus fairs. An improvement in traffic condition seems a far cry.

There are number of unplanned expenditures such as flyovers, which are altered many times now and then. Second one is streetscaping with a budget of Rs. 1,000 crore that’s also gone haywire.

Naturally, in the light of delays, events planning is also suffering. What was to cost Rs 920 crore in 2004, now has a budget of Rs 2307 crore.

A. K. Walia, Finance Minister of Delhi says, “So many things come at the last moment. For instance, the streetscaping decision.”

The international sporting event was a major breakthrough for the government to improve infrastructure but the mismanagement caused several projects being passed, which have no relation to the games but eating a sizable portion of budget for the Commonwealth. For example, the Burari Redevelopment Project worth 10 crore or a slum rehabilitation project that has started in Patel Nagar.

The government is however, optimist about the recovery of fund through tourism, advertising, broadcast rights and sale of merchandise.

“We are very sure of raising the entire amount and pay it back to the Centre. Our broadcasting rights have been sold for double of what we targeted,” says Lalit Bhanot, Spokesperson, Organising Committee, Commonwealth Games.

A K Roy, NGO Hazard Centre however, is not very optimistic, “After the Asiad Games it took them 25 years to sell off the players’ buildings. It took them 20 years to sell off the Asiad Village. For this games, my guess is it will take them 40 years to break even.”

In between the common public who don’t even know commonwealth involves how many and which countries bear the brunt of selfish motives of government and businessmen.

Hi,

My name is Rahul Singh and I’m a resident of sector 15 part 2 Gurgaon.

There is a hospital by the name of LIFE LINE HEALTH CARE. They are
creating a lot of problem by dumping their infectious waste right at the back of the hospital which exposes to the sector15 Huda Market. This is creating a lot of inconvenience and hindrance to the shop keepers of the market. More than that it is very unhealthy & unhygienic for the people and animals around since the waste consists of syringes and needles and also hospital supplies.

The local shopkeepers when requested the hospital staff to find an alternative to dump, they were very rude with them, also there were some Huda officials with them who were supporting the hospital staff. I would like to send some pictures to support my story. Would u provide me an email id where i could send them? Could something be done about it?
————————–

New Delhi, Jan. 29 – Arun Tripathi, a quality analyst in a reputed BPO organization, is under a great quandary these days. He has Rs. 75000 with him to invest, but has no clue where to invest! He has consulted family, friends, colleague and even a consultancy, but the fuzzy answers muddle his already state of flux. Today most of the country’s novice investors face the same problem under the present economic and market condition.

The common men are failing to trust the conventional investment plans like stock market, bonds or similar debt instrument. Stock market, which is the best investment plan for long, has been now crashing under the current circumstances. Historically, whenever markets have crashed, investors have moved on to the debt markets, but the problem this time inflation. Thanks to inflation the real return from debt funds has gone into negative. For instance, if some debt fund offers 8% return, inflation being at 11.42% the real return stands at -3.42%. Now the same problem with bank deposit as well. Hence, it’s time for the investors to look for either alternative investment options or to adopt a different investment strategy.

Experts advice that under present market conditions, the primary target for investors should be ‘protection of capital’.

“Investors should forget about returns and concentrate on capital protection. Because at present all major asset classes are eroding capitals. Hence, investors must invest to protect their capital at the first place, because if they can manage to do so, they can emerge as winners down the line.” Said R.K Gupta, MD, Tauras Mutual Fund.

Unit-Linked Insurance Plans (ULIPs) are another option that can be trusted because of their ability to protect investors’ capital. In this case, apart from the guaranteed capital, such schemes also provide fixed interest, assured top ups and of course life insurance to allure customers. As per experts ULIPs are definitely a good bargain at present. Similar to ULIPs, many banks have launched various capital protection funds, which keep investors’ capital protected, apart from providing them a steady growth.

Be that as it may, at the end of the day investors must understand that the festive session is over. They can’t afford to park their hard earned money to anywhere and expect a cool return. It’s a time to test their risk appetite and the time period they want to stay invested.

Inside a gated two storey in the village of Sonepat district resides a well established family. They are not happy because their 29-year son is yet to be married. The reason; there are no girls to marry. Mohan Madhav Godbole, the director of Bal Gram, an orphanage in Sonepat district in Haryana, is no more shocked nowadays when he hear someone asks to “buy” girls from his institution. It is now quite a common routine when villagers come to him and ask for girls to lend. No, this is not any script of cinema but a fact of real life, though little more pathetic than reel life.

The slanted sex ratio – 861 girls per 1000 boys (2001 census) – says it all. More than 60 percent of the men in Bambla village in Bhilwani district are unmarried. There are no girls to marry. The situation stoop so low that people brings girls from other states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Assam. The sex ratio is worse in Bhiwani – 788 girls per 1000 boys. In Sonepat it is 841. People are so desperate that they buy girls, mostly minors from the eastern and southern India. These women are called ‘Paros’, as they are “imported” from other states. Now the situation is this, men hunt brides in orphanages.

In a report by United Population Fund (UNFPA), the parental son selection in several Asian countries is likely to have severe social consequences in coming years. They predicted imbalance in sex ratio would affect severely on society. French demographer Christopher Guilmoto, regional authority, had warned that the shortage of adult women would affect the stability of the entire marriage system. Many poor men wouldn’t get a bride, creating a gulf in the society and cause of social unrest in coming years.

Adding insult to the injury, men in Haryana face other problems too. The Jat men have to get four gotras matched for their marriage – that of the paternal grand mother, mother, the groom and the maternal grandmother. This is a cumbersome process, and limits the options to a large extent. Now, most of the districts such as Mewat, Karnal, Sonepat are on the race of buying minors from far states such as Bihar, Bangalore and Uttar Pradesh.

In the villages most of the marriages follow the atta satta system, wherein the two families exchange a boy for a girl. According to an affluent villager who didn’t want to disclose his name revealed that they would cash of 5000- 10,000 for a girl brought from other states. The problems faces by women are also momentous. They need to adapt themselves with the strange environment, faces many problems such as food habit, language, climate and cultural structure.

A case point is Andhra Pradesh. It was a major supplier of women but has now set up anti-human trafficking centres with the cooperation of police, NGOs and the government. Similarly, Tamil Nadu, Goa, West Bengal, too have come forward with solid measures.
