Chill! chances of Delhi at zero degrees are zero

While India’s Capital was said to deal with freeze on friday, seems that the chances of temperatures dipping to freezing point were zero. Met officials told that the expected minimum temperature is around 2 degrees Celsius in Delhi on friday. The department has forecast light showers over the Northern plains over the weekend which should help abate the cold wave. Thursday’s minimum temperature was also the lowest minimum recorded for January 31 since 2003 & ….

Snowfall in Jerusalem
A heavy snowfall blanketed Jerusalem and other parts of the Holy Land in snow on Wednesday causes closing schools and stores and grounding public transportation. The Israelis were in excitement & used to warm Middle Eastern weather, was palpable. Children threw snowballs on slushy streets, and weather reports topped local newscasts, eclipsing an upcoming government report on the 2006 war in Lebanon that could pressure Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to resign. North-India Shivers

North-India continued to shiver under intense cold waves today also as mercury levels dipped to sub-zero temperatures, disrupting normal life. In many regions, the temperature plummeted to around two degree Celsius, causing immense hardship to people, particularly during the intensely cold nights. Labourers & Rikshaw pullers working in the outdoors have wrapped themselves up in maximum possible warm clothing, & are spending most of their time huddling around makeshift fires.
Minimum temperature increases in New Delhi
Delhi today’s minimum temperature climbing to 5.2 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, in Delhi minimum temperature was 2.3 degrees Celsius & the maximum temperature was 16.4 degrees Celsius which was six points below normal. The capital has been experiencing intense cold waves for the past few days. The season’s lowest temperature in New Delhi was recorded at 1.9 degree Celsius on January 2.
