Chakrabarty’s thunderous verbal attack came a day after Mamata Bajerjee bounced a surprise with a Cabinet expansion which removed of two ministers who were from Congress.

This is a measured act by the chief minister with her like-it-or-lump-it move for Congress. Congress leader Adhir Chowdhury with two state ministers Manoj Chakrabarty and Abu Hena criticized the chief minister during the spat over renaming Indira Bhawan.

Chakrabarty turned furious and accused Mamata Banerjee of aiming his since he managed to win from Murshidabad. Chakrabarty also accused Manas Bhunia, the former PCC chief, of playing a double role.

This new trouble raised a moderate reaction from Congress. Some in Congress think that the chief minister should have inform her ally before reshuffling Congress portfolios.

In recent weeks, both the parties exchanged heated comments against each other. On Friday, when the union finance minister is asked about the rising tensions in Kolkata, he replied that he has nothing to say as Shakeel Ahmed has already spoken to the state leadership.

AICC in-charge of Bengal Shakeel Ahmed has asked only one person to reply when it comes to the relationship with TMC. The spat between these two allies came out in open when Mamata Banerjee wished to rename Indira Bhavan.

It was around 2pm when clouds gathered. A light rainfall and strong winds added to the expectation of snowfall.

The snowfall was quite intense but joy did not last long as strong wind dispelled the cloud and soon the sky became clear. The minimum temperature was looming around 2 – 3 degrees Celsius. Darjeeling sky, however, remained clean. The last time when Darjeeling experienced snowfall was in 2006. Reports suggest that it is difficult to forecast heavy snowfall as the weather is changing daily.

Most tourists, who came here, never experienced snowfall before. A tourist from Kolkata told that this is what she was expecting and she was quite lucky to experience that. Some of the tourists are even ready to extend their stay in expectation of further snowfall in the coming days. Though the snowfall was light compared to previous occasions, yet it was enough to make the visitors happy.

The very first tiger rescue centre in India is going to be ready within three months. The rescue centre will be developed at Jharkhali in the Sunderbans.

The centre will be very close to the main forest. The tigers can loiter through the wild, but they cannot leave the centre as it will be fenced off with fifteen feet high iron bars. The work on outer fence is over.

Pradip Vyas, the director of Sunderban Biosphere Reserve stated that it will allow them to treat wounded tigers in the forest; they do not have to spend months at the zoo hospital in Alipore. The cats will have assured food supply, in this place, and it will help them to recover quite fast.

Once the forest department gets adequate fund, they will start working on the second phase. The inner fence will be made in such a way that neither the tigers will be able to enter the next enclosure nor they can swim across the nearby Herobhanga River to enter the villages. The rescue centre will also feature a watch tower to keep a watch on the cats.

Experts have welcomes this move as it will let the big cats in their home environment.

On Monday, Bratya Basu is expected to meet the chairman of higher education council Sugata Marjit to chalk out the code details. The Higher Education Minister is hoping that the code will be ready in a month.

TMC supporters had assaulted the principal of Raiganj College on Thursday and on Saturday, SFI supporters beaten up the principal of Sudhir Ranjan Lahiri College. The code seems to be the immediate spark of these incidents. Even in last few years, college campuses across the state of West Bengal have seen violence during college elections.

As expected, the by-election for the Calcutta – South Lok Sabha seat won by TMC’s Subrata Bakshi. Breaking all the previous records, he won it by 230099 votes. Last time, during the 2009 Lok Sabha election, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee won it by 219571 votes. The current Bengal Chief minister won this seat six times in a row. This constituency has always been TMC’s ‘home ground’.

Subrata Bakshi has got 516761 votes which is 64.32% of total votes. CPI (M)’s Ritabrata Banerjee has got 286662 votes which is 35.68% of total votes. After the 2009 Lok Sabha election, the percentage of Left vote has decreased in all the elections and by-elections. What the CPI (M) was looking for in this election was to increase the percentage of votes, but they failed to do that once again. Out of 1902 booths, they got the lead in only three booths. TMC has got the lead in all the seven state assembly constituencies.

TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has thanked who have voted for them and against them. According to TMC leaders, this result clearly show that people of Bengal have faith in Mamata Banerjee’s government. Subrata Bakshi has credited TMC chief for this win. He said that the victory margin he got was because of people’s love for Mamata Banerjee and her ma-mati-manush government.

State Congress have congratulated Subrata Bakshi for his win and stated that this result proves that CPI (M) does not have the strength to turn around in Bengal’s political scenario.
