The company emerged as the lowest bidder for providing laptops by quoting a price of Rs 13,939 per laptop, which is Rs 10,000 lower than the retail price. Providing laptops to students will also consolidate the company’s position in the Indian market. HCL Infosystems Ltd was the second lowest bidder by quoting Rs 14,452 per machine.

Lenovo officials declined to discuss the price and quantity of machines. R K Amar Babu, MD of Lenovo India said that there is some time to go before the actual order and discussions are being carried on with vendors regarding the price and quantity. The state government plans to give 6.8 million free laptops to students of government aided colleges and schools at a cost of Rs 10,200 crore. Though Lenovo is the fourth in the Indian market, in the global market it is the second largest PC vendor with a market share of 13.5%.

The injured were taken to the Arakkonam government hospital.

Railway minister Dinesh Trivedi said that the cause of the accident is being investigated. Rescue efforts were started immediately after the accident but it was hampered because of rain. Mr Trivedi further added that he along with K H Muniyappa (Minister of state for Railways), Chairman of Railway Board and other officials were leaving for the accident site. A compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the dead, Rs 1 lakh for seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for others have been announced. Trivedi however, refused to comment on the exact reason of the accident.

He however said that the driver of the passenger train is alive and is being treated and he can tell the main reason behind the mishap once he is in the condition to do so. Following the accident, Southern Railway cancelled and rescheduled several trains from Chennai.

Chennai, March 8 – Perhaps not in the history of India, any disciple has presented such gurudakshina to his master. The self styled God man Swami Paramahamsa Nityananda’s former disciple, Nitya Dharmananda alias Lenin Karuppan claimed to conduct the sting operation to unmasked the normal man behind the spiritual disguise. The videos showed Nityanand in compromising positions with actress Ranjitha. According to Dharmananda the former actress was a disciple of Nityananda and acted as personal attendant during the day’s long visit to his ashram.

In a shocking revelation, Dharmananda charged that Nityananda had illegitimate relationships with other actresses too. The disciple, Nithya Premananda, alias Lenin Karuppan, now admitted that he leaked out the tape and wanted police security because he feared of his life from Nityananda’s disciples.

He said he was shocked and aroused doubts about Swami when heard about the death of a devotee from Canada at the ashram and another attempted suicide. Dharmananda is also said to have handed over to the police two CDs believed to contain Nityanand’s dalliance with other tinseltown beauties.

The former Nityanand disciple said he had joined the godman’s staff as a driver. He went on to become Nityanand’s trusted lieutenant and settled down in the Bangalore ashram in 2006. He had free access to the godman’s private rooms and he said he made the tapes December last.

“Sensing I had done a sting operation, Nityanand and ashram functionaries threatened me on February 18 during a visit to Salem. I escaped,” Dharmananda said. He has sought police protection.

In the meantime, Nityanand asked his devotee not to carried away by the false tapes and said all these are conspiracy to defame him.

Chennai, March 3 – The self styled godman who claimed to bestow inner bliss through self-realization, now caught in hidden camera, realizing something very different from Self. Swami Paramhamsa Nithyananda, a “saint” based in Tamil Nadu, who had also big followers in the state and abroad, has caught in the sex net where a news channel telecast video footage purportedly showing him in a sex romp with an actress.

The local news channel Sun played the footage again and again and in another place Tamil magazine Nakkeeran has published photographs of the assumed gambol. Internet has already shown footage on popular sites like YouTube and others.

Neither Nithyananda, 32, nor the actress, Ranjitha, — a second-line heroine of the 90s who is not active in films now — was available for comment.

In the defense a spokesperson for Nithyananda’s headquarters in Bidadi, Karnataka said that the whole thing was an conspiracy, graphical morphs and filthy rumors and the organization would take legal action soon.

After the revelation right wing Hindu party and atheistic Dravidar Kazhagam ransacked all the ashrams in Tamil Nadu and garlanded his poster with slippers.

As the protest took an ugly shape, police had to deploy protection in ashrams in Tiruvannamali, his birthplace, and a few other towns.

“There has been no formal request from the ashrams but we have deployed forces to maintain law and order,” a police officer said.

Some of Nithyananda’s followers said the video was solely made to derail swami’s image and put in danger the movement of the organization.

“His movement had become a multi-crore business empire within a decade by taking donations from the public,” said K. Sethuraman, a chartered accountant and a keen follower of the seer’s discourses. “It remains to be seen how he is able to retrieve himself from this mess.”
