The PUTA members would be proceeding on mass casual leave on Wednesday for the fulfillment of their demand of grant of Central University status to the varsity. Online Guru Granth Sahib will start soon
Punjabi University in Patiala is planning to start an on-line course in Guru Granth Sahib. While credit for the proposed course is being taken by Advanced Centre for Development of Punjabi Language, Literature & Culture, scholars working in other departments have been asked to write papers for the course.

Punjab government on Wednesday passed the Compulsory Registration of Marriages Bill act. The Bill which was presented by justice minister Upinderjit Kaur, is also intended for compliance with directions of Supreme Court which were delivered in the Seema versus Ashwani Kumar case, 2005, seeking adoption of Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act in all states.

Bus rammed in to tree, killed 10
A private bus on Monday rammed into a tree & then overturned in which ten people killed & fourty injured. 10 people, including five women, were killed when the Gurdaspur-Batala bus turned turtle near Bidhipur village railway crossing.
A three years old child escaped unhurt while 15 of the injured, five of them serious, were admitted to a local hospital. Police is investigating the matter.
Punsup DM Amarjeet Singh Saini committed suicide
Amarjeet Singh Saini the district manager of Punsup died after committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at his rented house in Prem Nagar in KApurthala. He was 48 years old. Saini has left a suicide note.

Four Congress members dismissed in Punjab
The Congress Punjab unit has expelled four of its party members for alleged anti-party activities. Those stripped of the primary membership of the party for six years, included Mahesh Inder Singh Nihalsinghwala, Amarjit Singh Manuke, Sukhdev Singh Khema & Randhir Singh.

Police nabbed 2 Haryana commandos in Rape case
Chandigarh police arrested two commandos of the Haryana police from outside the Haryana governor’s residence, after they were accused of raping a 40 years old woman.

Passing in Maths compulsory for Class X students
