In Brisbane, James Sutherland told reporters, “David Warner has done a despicable thing, but I also hold the team to account here,”

“There were other people there with him and those that were there need to take responsibility for that, but so does the team as a whole and the team management group as a whole,”

Sutherland added that there is no place for violence anywhere and he is extremely disappointed for that. He is disappointed with David Warner and he has told him that.

On Thursday, Warner was suspended by Criaket Australia till the Ashes series. Earlier the Aussie opener offered unconditional apologies for his behavior. At a press conference, he told, “I’m here today to apologise publicly and put my hand up and say I am responsible for my actions. I am extremely remorseful. I have let my teammates down, the support staff, myself and my family,”

“I have accepted the punishment. It is up to me to do everything I can to help the team to progress in the Champions Trophy, and move on to have a great preparation for the Ashes.”

Skipper Michael Clarke also gave a stern message to Warner, he told, “This is not an IPL team, this is not state cricket, it’s not county cricket, when you play for Australia there are standards you have to uphold.”

After the training session, the Pakistan captain told reporters that it is a final for them ad a win against the world champs would be a huge compensation. If they could beat India, their fans would be happy.

Misbah-ul-Haq is not ready to take it as just another match. He added that it is a big opportunity. Fans look forward to this game and he would like to see India and Pakistan play more often for the sake of the fans. He also termed India – Pakistan rivalry as the biggest rivalry in cricket.

Saina Nehwal registered a straight game win over Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi in 39 minutes. She outplayed her opponent by 21 – 13 and 21 – 19 in a women’s singles’ match at Istora Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

On the other hand, Jayaram registered a magnificent win over 4th seeded Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia by 22 – 20, 21 – 12. Gurusaidutt defeated Japan’s Kazumasa Sakai to make his way further in the tournament.

In her next match, world no 2 Saina Nehwal will take on Spain’s Carolina Marin. Jayaram will play against Germany’s Marc Zwiebler in his next match.

Proteas bowler Dale Styne, who could not play in earlier group matches because of injury, is expected to play against West Indies in the final group match. South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee told that Styne is progressing well. He came through his net session without any discomfort. If he comes through tomorrow’s practice session, then he would be available.

In Group B, India is the only team that has won the earlier two group matches and secured a semi final spot. South Africa lost their first group match against India and defeated Pakistan in the second group match. On the other hand, West Indies won their first match against Pakistan and lost the second match against India. India will play against Pakistan in their third and last group match on Saturday.

David Warner had earlier missed Champions Trophy group match against New Zealand on Wednesday and this ban means he would miss the last group match against Sri Lanka scheduled to take place on Monday. The opener will also miss Australia’s two tour matches against Worcestershire and Somerset before the first Ashes test against England at Trent Bridge from 10th July.

Cricket Australia stated that David Warner, who found guilty of breaching its code of conduct, would be eligible for selection in the first test against England.

A sports ministry statement said that the cabinet has approved the proposal for sought by the All India Football Federation from the Government of India for their bid to host the FIFA Under 17 World Cup Football Tournament in 2017 in India.

FIFA needed guarantees on visa, foreign exchange, players’ accommodation and tax exemption among others; and earlier in January, India’s bid was rejected by FIFA because of insufficient assurances from the government. But now, government’s go-ahead signal made the way for a strong bid.

FIFA and AIFF have agreed to bear the expenditure of the whole tournament, while the government additional financial help to ensure smooth conduct of the tournament.

Earlier, New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 1 wicket in their first group match. Now, they are at the top of Group A with 3 points from two matches. Their last group match against England, who won their first match against Australia. Now England have two points from 1 match. Australia has 1 point fro two games, but Sri Lanka has no points, but they have only played one match. To reach to the semi final, Australia have to win their final group match against Sri Lanka and also have to depend on the results of other matches of Group A.

On Wednesday, chasing Australia’s 243 runs, the Kiwis made 51 in 15 overs losing two wickets when rain interrupted the game. Ross Taylor (9 not out) and Kane Williamson (18 not out) were at the crease when rain played spoilsport.

For Australia, Adam Voges scored 76 in 71 balls and stand-in skipper George Bailey made 55 runs in 91 balls.

In a statement, England and Wales Cricket Board stated that “David Warner initiated an unprovoked physical attack on a member of the England team in a Birmingham bar following England’s 48-run victory over Australia,”

“Warner has admitted behaving inappropriately and has since apologized to the player involved who has accepted the apology.”

This tournament is going tough for the defending champions as they are already without their regular skipper Michael Clarke. George Bailey is leading the team in his absence. On Monday, they will play against Sri Lanka at The Oval in London.

On Wednesday, in the pre-quarter finals, the twenty-three year old Indian will play against the winner of the match between Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk and Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi.

In the mixed doubles category, the world number 29, the Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tarun Kona defeated Praveen Jordan and Vita Marissa 21 – 18,  14 – 21, 25 – 23. Their match lasted around 53 minutes. On Wednesday, in the pre-quarter finals, the Indian pair will take on 7th seeded Polish pair of Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba.
