Earlier, another Rajasthan Royals player Ankeet Chavan confessed his involvement in the recent scandal when he was questioned by the Delhi police. Ajit Chandila has not yet accepted the charges yet.

All three players were sent to 5 day police custody after they e brought to Delhi from Mumbai. On Thursday, Sreesanth was arrested from a friend’s house; and Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila were arrested from the team hotel in Mumbai.

On Friday, all three players were interrogated by the Delhi Police special cell. Apart from these cricketers, police have also captured eleven bookies and it is believed that some of them have underworld links.

Yesterday, after the arrest of three Rajasthan Royals players, Shaun Tait’s name appeared on the social networking sites. In a statement, Tait said, “I’m bewildered, I’m angry and I’m upset at the false suggestions I’ve been involved in any wrongdoing.”

“While I welcome the recent statements from police clearing me of any involvement, for a few hours I was deeply distressed by the rumours that were rapidly circulating about me, most of which were aired in the social media space,” said Tait, who plays for the same IPL team Rajasthan Royals, that pace bowler Sreesanth and spinners Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila.

“At no stage in my career have I engaged in spot or match fixing and I’m in discussions with my manager and legal representatives to examine how this episode unfolded and any further action I may take,” added Tait, who also got Cricket Australia’s support.

A Cricket Australia statement said that Shaun reiterated to CA that he had absolutely no involvement in the recent scandal and Cricket Australia is comfortable that Shaun Tait is being appropriately supported in India.

Police arrested Sreesanth from one of his friend’s house and Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila were arrested from a hotel in Mumbai. Apart from these three Rajasthan Royals players, police have also caught two bookies from Delhi and seven from Mumbai. Police raid is still going on to arrest two more bookies in Delhi.

According to reports, police have stated that three bookies who were caught from Mumbai has well established links with bookies in Pakistan and more importantly they are not ruling out any underworld connection. Several other IPL matches are still under scanner.

Batting first, Chennai Super Kings made 141 runs in 20 overs losing 4 wickets. Opener Murali Vijay was the highest scorer for Chennai – he made 55 in 55 balls. Another opener Michael Hussey made 40 in 40 balls. Chasing 142, the start was not good for Rajasthan as they lost three important wickets inside 5 overs, but Aussie all rounder Shane Watson’s heroic play guided them to the victory. He made 70 in 34 balls. Stuart Binny made 41 in 23 balls. They reached the target in 17.1 overs. Shane Watson was named man of the match.

In the post match press conference, CSK coach Stephen Fleming told, “It was an extraordinary innings by Shane Watson. When everybody else was struggling on a lively surface he changed the complexion of the game like a flick of a switch. He turned the game around so quickly,”

“In four to five overs he took the game away from us,” he added.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field first. RCB made just 115 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. With 33 runs in 36 balls, Chris Gayle was the highest scorer for the Royal Challengers. Narine, for Knight Riders, took 4 wickets in 4 overs giving 22 runs. In reply, Kolkata reached the target in 19.2 overs losing 5 wickets. Jacques Kallis again proved his worth in the team; he made 41 runs in 45 balls. Manoj Tiwary scored 24 and skipper Gautam Gambhir made 14 runs. Jacques Kallis was named man of the match.

Aftre that match, Kallis told that the team can still make it to the play-offs. He told, “We need to win our remaining two games and hope that some other results go our way…All we can do is control what we can and that’s to win the next two games. And if we do that, we give ourselves a chance to qualify.”

Bangalore captain Virat Kohli told, “It was not the right time for us to lose another match. It’s just that we were not good enough.”

On Friday, he told that it is unfortunate that Mathews was dropped as the skipper of the team and since he is the chairman of selectors, he was a bit concerned. Angelo Mathews is Sri Lanka’s skipper in both test format as well as in the fifty overs game. But he believes that Mathews has played enough cricket to understand that things like this happens.

The Sri Lankan legend added that Angelo Mathews is a different kind of player and he should not be judged by his Pune Warriors performance. He has a lot of faith in Angelo, but it is not right to expect him to do well all the time. He is good player and a captain.

Sanath Jayasuriya is also confident that the team would do well in the forthcoming Champions Trophy that will take place in England. He told that he had selected the best team and he is expecting that they would do well in the tournament. The team is a combination of both young and experienced players.

Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a total of 183 runs on the board. RCB Captain Virat Kohli play a magnificent knock. He made 99 runs in just 58 balls. Moises Henriques and AB de Villiers scored 26 and 32 respectively. In reply, Delhi Daredevils managed to make 179 in 20 overs with the loss of 7 wickets. With 41 of 32 balls, Unmukt Chand was the highest scorer for Delhi Daredevils. For RCB, Jaydev Unadkat took 5 wickets in 4 overs giving 25 runs.

In the post match presentation ceremony, Virat Kohli told that he was nervous during the last over. He told, “Nervous when the last over was going on, the way it has gone last few games.”

Delhi boy Kohli added, “I love playing in my home ground, wonderful to play in front of my home crowd.”

In a statement, Cricket South Africa President Chris Nenzani said, “Gary has a young family and it is understandable that he wishes to spend more time at home,”

Batting first, Kolkata made a challenging total of 152 runs in the limited overs losing 6 wickets. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir scored a magnificent 50 in 44 balls. Later Ryan ten Doeschate added a quick 31 off 21 balls. In reply, Pune Warriors got bowled out for 106 runs in 19.3 overs. With 40 runs in his bag, Angelo Mathews was the highest scorer for the Warriors. Opener Robin Uthappa made 31 in 35 balls.

After the match, KKR Captain Gambhir told, “It was a great effort by the team,’

“But all credit must go to Ryan ten Doeschate whose cameo powered us to an excellent total. The wicket wasn’t great and Tendo deserves the plaudits for the way he batted.”

“The plan was to attack from the start and that is exactly what we did. The wicket wasn’t the easiest and it took a great effort from the boys to post a 150+ score,” added Gambhir.

“It was an extremely professional effort by our bowlers as well and with this victory we are still in with a very good shout to reach the playoffs.”

Gambhir took the man of the match award. With 10 points from 13 matches, Kolkata Knight Riders are now sitting at the 7th position.
