Youth shot dead in Noida

Noida: Some unidentified men shot dead a youth in Salarpur area of Noida on Wednesday. The victim identified as Babloo alias Bhim, 22 years old, was on his way to home on a bicycle when some miscreants shot at him. He succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
Police is searching to nab the killers.

24 trains diverted, 10 cancelled due to flood in Yamuna

Delhi: At least 24 trains have been diverted & 10 trains cancelled due to flood in Yamuna River. Following an increase in the water level, the old Yamuna bridge was closed for rail & road traffic since 3 a.m.
The water-level of the river increased due to release of 4,00,000 cusecs of water into western Yamuna from Tajewala barrage. The river is flowing above the danger mark.

6 get death sentence in Khairlanji case

Mumbai: The Bhandara Sessions Court has on Wednesday awarded death sentence for six in the Khairlanji Dalit murder case in which four members of a family were killed in 2006. The district & sessions court also awarded life imprisonment for two others convicted in the case on September 15.
Those given death sentence were Sakru Binjewar, Shatrughan Dhande, Vishwanath Dhande, Ramu Dhande, Jagdish Mandlekar & Prabhakar Mandlekar while Gopal Binjewar & Shishpal Dhande were awarded life sentence.

Journalists to hold rally outside Sonia Gandhi’s residence tomorrow

Bank employees to strike from Tomorrow

India’s public sector bank employees will be on a two day strike from tomorrow after talks between their union & the chief labour commissioner failed.
C.H. Venkatachalam, convener of the United Forum of Bank Union said, “We have demanded revision of wages & deferment of privatization of banks & disinvestments in public sector banks”.
Employees of 26 public sector banks will participate in the two day strike from Wednesday.

A Mumbai special court has on Tuesday discharged gangster Brijesh Singh from the 1992 J J Hospital shootout case. Brijesh Singh, who was brought to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh, had shot at one of the members of Arun Gawli gang.

Security guards assaulted at Tata Motors plant

Unidentified armed men assaulted two security guards in the paint shop of the Tata Motors “Nano” plant at Singur. Five armed men sneaked into the project area at 9:45 pm on Monday night &beat up security guards with iron rods.
Alarmed by screams of the injured other security men rushed to the site but could not nab the attackers. The injured were first taken to Singur Gramin Hospital & then shifted to Walsh Hospital at Srirampore. Police is investigating the matter.

36 Bangladeshis arrested in New Delhi

At least 36 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in New Delhi for residing here without valid documents. The illegal immigrants were taken into custody from Kalyanpuri in east Delhi during checking in the area yesterday.
Among the arrested, ten are women & 11 are children. Police has intensified its drive to flush out illegal immigrants in the wake of serial blasts in the national capital on September 13 which claimed 24 lives.

Sixth Pay Commission: States ask Centre to bear 50%

State government asked Centre to share half the burden of pay revision of their employees, in case they go for the next salary hike. VAT panel said in its presentation to the 13th Finance Commission, “The states would never forget the effect of the Centre’s decision on recommendations of the Fifth Central Pay Commission regarding pay revision on states’ finances through consequences of pay revision at the states levels. Three suspects held for Delhi serial blasts

Police has on Sunday arrested three suspected militants allegedly involved in the Delhi serial blasts. The three identified as Zia, Shakeel & Shakir-ur-Rahman were arrested from a south Delhi locality. Zia & Shakeel were involved in the July 26 Ahmedabad serial blasts that claimed more than 55 lives.
Earlier, two HuJI militants wanted in connection with the serial blasts in Delhi & Ahmedabad were killed in a fierce encounter on September 19.

Landslides killed 30 in Himachal Pradesh

Around 30 people have been killed following landslides triggered by incessant rains in various parts of Himachal Pradesh in the last three days. Five people, including two persons, were buried alive in Shimla town in a massive landslide last evening near the Mall Road in Shimla.

Islamabad blast killed 40, 150 injured

A blast has been reported in area of heavily guarded Marriott Hotel in Pakistan’s capital on Saturday in which 40 killed & 150 others injured. Ambulances rushed to the scene, where a fire also burned.

Flash floods have killed nine people in Orissa as officials on Friday warned that the situation may worsen when water released from the state’s largest reservoir reaches the coastal districts. Two terrorists killed in Delhi Encounter

Two militants have been killed & one arrested in an encounter in the Jamia Nagar locality in South Delhi by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. However, two terrorists managed to escape. Two policemen of the Special cell were also injured in the encounter.

Earthquake in North India, Pakistan

An earthquake of 5.7 magnitude struck Northern India, New Delhi, Pakistan & Afghanistan on Saturday morning. The epicentre of this equake was in the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan. There were no immediate reports of any Casualty or damage.
The quake struck at a depth of 174 kms. In India, the tremors were felt at around 11.20 am. Residents of Srinagar, Jammu, Bhadrwah, Poonch, New Delhi & Chandigarh feel the earthquake.
