Sonia Gandhi the president of Congress has launched the satellite TV channel named as “Vasanth” from the party headquarters at 24, Akbar Road in New Delhi.
The launching was done in the presence of H. Vasanthkumar, chairman & managing director of the channel & Congress MLA in Tamil Nadu.

Marathi newsreader Data Kulkarni passed away

Marathi newsreader Data Kulkarni has passed away on Sunday. Datta Kulkarni, whose voice was familiar all over Masharashtra in yesteryears as reader of Marathi news was passed away in new Delhi.
He was 82 years old. Dattatreya Ramchandra Kulkarni was the head of Marathi news unit at All India Radio, Delhi for 30 long years. He retired from service 23 years ago.
Kulkarni, who was not keeping well from the past few months, breathed his last at his residence in east Delhi. ….



142 prisoners still detained under TADA Act

At least 142 prisoners are still detained under TADA Act across India with Maharashtra topping the list with 50 such detentions.
These persons are in judicial custody as per orders of the designated TADA Courts. Maharashtra tops the list of TADA detainees with 50 prisoners while Assam came second with 28 such detentions followed by Gujarat with 18.

A Delhi court awarded life term to ex-army officer SJ Choudhary for killing businessman Krishan Sikand in a parcel bomb explosion 26 years ago.
District Judge Mamta Sehgal said, pronouncing the sentence in a jam-packed courtroom, “I sentence you to life term”. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Choudhary.

Delhi High Court has granted bail to arms dealer Suresh Nanda, his son Sanjeev & two others on Tuesday who allegedly manipulated evidence in a case of alleged kickbacks in the Barak missile deal.

Tibetans protesters tried to storm Chinese embassy

At least 60 Tibetans on Wednesday attempted to storm the Chinese embassy in New Delhi & clashed with security personnel. Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari has announced on Tuesday that the Jai Narain Prasad Nishad has been disqualified as a BJP Rajya Sabha member under the anti-defection law. Ansari further said that the Nishad’s disqualification was followed a petition by senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on charges that he had campaigned against the party.

Chinese security officials to review Olympic torch security in Delhi

A team of Chinese security officials is expected in Delhi on Monday to inspect the route for the Olympic torch run on April 17. Indian officials are expected to take them for a survey of the route. The torch will arrive in Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

Fire in Reliance outlet in Delhi

A Reliance outlet has caught fire on Monday. The minor fire broke out at a retail outlet in north east Delhi.
The fire was reported at the Reliance outlet in Shahdara area this morning. At least four fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes.
There was no causality in the incident and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.

At least 3 lakh students will appear in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) on April 13 for admission into IITs across the country. A senior official of IIT Delhi said that there will be no change in the question pattern this time.
