Varun charged with attempt to murder

In an FIR filed, Varun Gandhi, BJP Lok Sabha candidate, has been charged with attempt to murder, rioting and some other offences. These charges were put in connection with violence, which erupted in Pilibhit even though the police over there maintained a close vigil to maintain law and order in Pilibhit district yesterday.

Varun Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Kalraj Mishra, local MLA Sukhlal and the former party MLA BK Gupta have been together named in another FIR registered for violation of prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC yesterday.

The entire law and order break took place when the 29-year-old BJP candidate, Varun, courted arrest in a case related to his alleged communal ‘hate’ speeches.

Varun Gandhi is now on a judicial custody. He has been booked under sections 147, 148 and 149 that is rioting and related charges, 307 which is attempt to murder, 332 relates to voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty, 336 leads to doing any act that endangers human life or the personal safety of others and along this certain sections of IPC and public safety and certain state acts for the violence around the district jail here.

Jailor Mukesh Arora filed the FIR relating to rioting and other charges. The FIR has been filed against Varun Gandhi and his supporters after BJP activists who fought a pitched battle with the police there and laid a siege of the jail premises.
