UPA Cabinet Reshuffle
Seven new ministers had joined the Union Council of Ministers. While six were inducted as Ministers of State, former Chief of the Election Commission, M S Gill was sworn in as Minister of State, Independent charge. New Union Cabinet Ministers has took oath on Sunday at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Jitin Prasada took oath as Minister of Coal. Santosh Bagrodia sworn in as Union minister. Raghunath Jha of RJD inducted into Cabinet. Jyotiraditya Scindia also sworn in as Union minister.
Jairam Ramesh has been given the additional charge of Power Ministry & B K Handique will be given independent charge of Mines Ministry.
Earlier on Sunday, President Patil accepted resignation letters of Suresh Pachouri, Manikrao Gavit, T. Subbarami Reddy, Akhilesh Das, Dasari Narayan Rao & M.V. Rajasekhara.
Suresh Pachouri was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Gavit was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Reddy was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Mines, Akhilesh Das was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Steel, while Narayan Rao was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal. Rajasekharan was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Planning.
