Underworld Don Abu Salem on hunger strike

He said that the Maharashtra government is “mentally torturing him” by not allowing him to attend court hearings & meeting anyone. On Monday, the home department had issued a notification asking the jail authorities not to send Abu Salem outside the prison.
The notification came after Mumbai police received an intelligence tip off about a terrorist attack on the don during transit & to avoid Salem’s bid to escape. He will not be handed over to any other state police for investigations, until his trial is over in Mumbai.
