Two militants killed in shootout with police in Jammu & Kashmir

Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants have been killed & two policemen, including an officer, injured in a fierce gunbattle in Jammu & Kashmir, where a seven-year-old boy was critically injured in an explosion on Sunday. The militants - Ajaz Ahmad Shah alias Janbaz & Bajeer Hussain - were killed in a gunbattle at Narpora village in Shopian district after a night-long gunbattle.

A police officer said that the encounter was started on Saturday evening when police raided a house in the village, 70 kms from Srinagar, following specific information about presence of two dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen militants involved in the recent killing of two CRPF personnel in the district.

As the search party zeroed in on the house, militants opened fire injuring an Assistant Sub-inspector. The police team fired back & tightened the cordon along the house. Both the militants were shot dead on Sunday morning. He said another policeman & a civilian were injured in the gunfight & shifted to hospital.
