Two jawans injured after gunbattle in Bihar
Two jawans were injured on Friday after a gunbattle with banned CPI(Maoist) guerrillas at Saraunja village in Bihar’s Begusarai district. Police has arrested 18 Naxalites, including six women on Saturday. An official of Police said, “A constable of Bihar Military Police (BMP) 7th battalion Harendra Kumar Rai & Ganesh Rai of Special Auxiliary Police, a force comprising ex-servicemen raised to tackle Naxalite violence, were injured in the gunfight”.
Police said that they have arrested 18 Naxalites, including six women, Sita Devi, Pawan Devi, Manju Kumari, Mamta Kumari, Shobha Devi & Resham Kumari after the encounter in the village under Birpur police station area.
On getting information about hundreds of armed Maoists having gathered at the village, Police rushed to the spot. When asked to lay down arms & surrender, the Naxalites began firing which resulted in the injury.
