Transporters strike continues in Jammu & Kashmir for 4th day
The transporters in Jammu & Kashmir are continuing their strike for the fourth day today. Passenger buses & commercial vehicles remained off the roads in Jammu & Kashmir as talks between striking transporters demanding 50 per cent increase in fares & the government failed to end the stalemate.
The representatives of all Jammu & Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association had several rounds of parleys with the three-member committee constituted by the government last evening. However, the talks proved futile as no breakthrough was achieved. A spokesman of transporter said, “We discussed our demands with the committee for more than four hours but as of now there has been no progress”.
He said, “We have demanded a hike in the fares & we will settle nothing short of that”.
Passenger buses & other commercial vehicles stayed off the roads today, causing great inconvenience to the commuters. A complete strike was also observed in other districts of the state.
