Tibetans protesting against China in Srinagar & Mysore
Tibetan monks & settlers based in Mysore & Srinagar participated in a protest against China, as Chinese law enforcement personnel continued their crackdown on Tibetans in Lhasa & in other parts of Tibet.
The placard holding protesters shouted slogans against Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao & appealed to the United Nations to intervene & save thousands of Tibetans languishing in Tibet from Chinas clutches.
The protestors alleged that since March 10, over 150 Tibetans have been killed & hundreds arrested & tortured. The protestors said that they want to draw attention of the international community to the happenings in their homeland.
Protesters said, “China is infamous for using state machinery to doctor evidence & propaganda to confuse & fool the world. We want to pay homage to all Tibetan martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Tibet”.
They also urged authorities in Beijing to open a dialogue with Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, to resolve long-standing issues. The protesters also demanded the release of the Panchen Lama. The mammoth peace march was organised by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress & the Regional Tibetan Women’s Association.
