Three opposition MLAs join BJP in Karnataka
The ruling BJP in Karnataka got a boost on Saturday when two JD(S) & one Congress legislators quit their parties to join it. The two JD(S) MLAs — Balachandra Laxman Rao Jarkiholi & K Shivanna Gouda Naik — & a Congress legislator Anand Vasant Asnotikar submitted their resignation letters to speaker Jagadish Shettar, who has accepted them. The three legislators have not given any reason for quitting the assembly membership & the parties.
Later, they went to the BJP office where they were admitted to the party. They said that they would be contesting the bypolls from the same constituencies on BJP tickets. The “operation resign” was done under the “supervision” of BJP ministers — G Janardhan Reddy & B Sriramulu, who were holding talks with the three for the past one fortnight.
Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has denied that there was any move by the BJP to break the Congress-JD(S).
