Tharoor without twitting assures measures to stop Biz visas misuse

tharoorKOLKATA, India: For stopping the misuse of business visas during employment process in the country, government is going to take steps said union minister Shashi Tharoor on Saturday to reporters.

He said business visas were not to be substituted for the employment visas.

Referring to China, Shashi Tharoor said that there might be fears that the business visas which is issued to Chinese have been utilised as employment visas by the unskilled and semi-skilled workers.

Tharoor said, “We will scrutinise the visa processing method and business visas will be given for business visits only… There is no chance of condoning the provisions of the visa policy.” He said this at the Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce.

According to data, just last year the government issued 58,500 business visas to Chinese nationals.

Tharoor while referring to the relations of India and China said that there are some irritants and he also added that he hoped that this issue would be resolved through diplomatic understanding. He said, “There are different perceptions on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China.”
