Supreme Court adjourned hearing of Sethusamudram case
The hearing of the Sethusamudram project has been adjourned in the Supreme Court for Thursday. A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan agreed to hear the matter on Thursday after Janata Party President Subramanium Swamy & lawyers for other petitioners brought to its notice that there was some confusion as the order mistakenly showed that the matter will be heard on May one.
The apex court had earlier stayed the project, which involves dredging a shipping channel between India & Sri Lanka over objections that it would affect the Ram Sethu. Meanwhile, Janata Party president Subramaniam Swamy has filed a petition alleging that Shipping Minister TR Baalu has vested interest in the project as his family companies are involved in the project.
