Six kg opium seized, 2 arrested
The Punjab police has arrested two notorious drug smugglers, believed to have political connections, & recovered 6 kg of opium from them in Amritsar. Both the arrested drug smugglers, Gian Singh & Jagjot Singh, of Tarn Taran district were intercepted by a police patrol party near the old Sabji Mandi Hall Gate.
Six kilogram of opium was recovered from them. The consignment, smuggled from Rajasthan, was to be delivered to a person in Amritsar. Meanwhile sources in the police department informed both the smugglers have political connections. Both of them have been booked under the NDPS Act at police station A-Division.
Meanwhile, the police has also arrested a robber, Sonu, resident of Uttar Pradesh & recovered a dagger & cash amounting to Rs 40,000 from his possession.
