Singh will be the PM candidate of the party: Sonia

by Sunil Sonkar

Sonia Gandhi says in a statement that was published in Sandesh, the Congress party mouthpiece that Manmohan Singh still has more years to serve the party as well as the country. She also adds, “We look forward to his continued leadership and his inspiration to the younger generation particularly.”

According to PTI report Mrs. Gandhi says Singh has led the UPA government with great distinction. He has always been recognized for his good wisdom and sagacity, and also for his humility and simplicity.

Endorsing virtually about Singh as the (again) PM candidate in the Lok Sabha elections, Sonia mentions that she looks forward to his continued leadership and also his inspiration to the younger generation in particul.

Party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan when asked about the party mouthpiece remarks of Gandhi, he said, “Manmohan Singh is the Prime Minister of the country and there is no vacancy for the post today”.

This statement is a follow up of heart surgery of 76-year old Prime Minister at AIIMS, which led to speculation in media and political circles about who the next projected prime ministerial candidate of the party.
