Sikhs called off protests till June 23
The Sikh community in Mumbai has called off their agitation till June 23. The decision came after the Maharashtra Deputy CM assured that action would be taken against the accused. A large no. of Sikh protesters took to the streets in Mumbai & clashed with the police after violent protests hit the city following the death of 50 years old Sikh man, Balkar Singh, who was killed by the body guard of Dera Saccha Sauda Chief — Ram Rahim Singh yesterday. The protesters demanded the arrest of Ram Rahim Singh.
Ram Rahim had drawn the ire of Sikhs for allegedly hurting their religious sentiments after he appeared dressed as Guru Gobind Singh Ji at a public function in Haryana’s Sirsa town where a religious commune headed by him is situated.
