Shamshabad Airport becomes operational

Shamshabad airport the Hyderabad’s new airport has become operational from Saturday midnight with the touchdown of a Lufthansa flight.
Passengers were given a very special welcome by the GMR group, which built the airport. Regular flights have now begun operating from the airport.
Sonia Gandhi the chairperson of UPA had inaugurate Shamshabad’s airport the country’s most modern international airport in Hyderabad on March 15.
Shamshabad airport is Rs 2,470 crore greefield international airport, the first to be developed under public-private partnership model.
A Lufthansa flight touched down in rainy weather at the brand new Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad on Sunday, kickstarting its operations after a week’s delay.
