Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt & his wife Manyata have been directed by a local court to appear on April 15 in connection with an undertrial’s application submit by Meraj Rehman stating the couple’s marriage was illegal.
Sanjay Dutt & Manyata were to appear before a local court on Tuesday to prove their marriage is legal, however the couple filed for an exemption citing that they were not in town.
Sanjay Dutt’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said that the couple did not come as they were not served the summons & so they be exempted today & the two will appear on the next date. The judge has now asked them to be present on the next hearing date, which is April 15.
Mehraj Rehman said in court that he had received a threat inside the lock-up that if he speaks against Manyata, his parents in Hyderabad would be harmed. Mehraj’s lawyer requested the court to not allow the couple (Sanjay & Manyata) to travel abroad.
Meraj Rehman, an undertrial in custody for sending obscene messages to Bollywood actresses, has claimed that Manyata was married to him & they have not yet divorced in accordance with laws. As such, she is still his wife & her marriage to Dutt is illegal. Mehraj Ul Rehman submit an application against Sanjay Dutt & Manyata for violating the Muslim marriage norms.
