Sachin Tendulkar honored with Padma Vibhushan
The master blaster Sachin Tendulkar was honored with the Padma Vibhushan which was awarded by President of India, Pratibha Patil on Monday in New Delhi.
Sachin Tendulkar after receiving the award said, “This is very close to my heart. I am very happy. It is difficult to explain in words. In my career of 18 years, I have received numerous awards but this one is close to my heart. I am really amused that the government has acknowledged my contribution to the game & the nation”.
His wife Anjali Tendulkar accompanied him to the grand ceremony. She said, “I am proud of him. He plays from the heart & he does not need an award to perform better”.
Moreover, swimmer Bula Chowdhury Chakraborty received the Padma Shri award from the President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan at the same occasion.
