RISHIKESH, India: A quarrel between sadhu and his disciple had lead to a nasty result, when the Rishikesh monk attacked his three years old Spanish disciple with acid bottle. It was reported that the yoga teacher Baba Rajgiri, 55, and Gloria Kasnovat, a Barcelona resident, both had been residing in the Baba’s ashram for the past three years, learning yoga.

The yoga teacher, returning from Nepal, in a feat of anger threw a bottle of acid on Spanish resident in an auto rickshaw. The two of them had just returned from a visit to Nepal and were traveling to the ashram in the Tapovan area of Rishikesh, Uttrakhand.

“Inside the auto, Rajgiri picked a fight with the woman and in a fit of anger, whipped out a bottle of acid and sprayed it on her face,” said Abhinav Kumar, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehra Dun.

The Spanish woman suffered several hand and face burns and was admitted to Christian Medical Institution in Dehra Dun. Fortunately, doctor reported that she was out of danger but scars would remain there for long time.

In her FIR, Gloria reported that she with Baba went to Nepal on December 30 and there she had learnt many new postures of yoga taught by Rajgiri. They returned to Dehra Dun by bus and took auto to reach Rishikesh from there.

She complained that during returning from journey baba’s behavior became unusually rough.

“He kept howling at me.” She said in the complaint.

“She will return to her country with gross physical scars,” a doctor at the hospital said.

Since the visit of four Beatles in the late 60s, Rishikesh has become a hot destination for yoga aspirants. Around 200 foreign women are learning yoga in the town now.
