To overcome cross-border terrorism war with Pakistan is not the solution said External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today in Parliament. Mukherjee said this while winding up debates on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address.

He also said in his speech that the strategy of government to depend on using diplomacy to generate pressure on Pak in the wake of Mumbai 26/11 attacks. He added that it had paid dividends.
Pranab Mukherjee made it a note in his speech that India is examining the questions raised by the Pak government in response to the Mumbai dossier and our government will share whatever information is possible. In his own words, “But, please don’t divert attention.”
In his reply in both Houses, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, on behalf of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh he detailed government’s actions taken after the Mumbai carnage and also other aspects of foreign policy including domestic issues like financial crisis.
He also justified that the UPA believed that war with our neighbour would not solve the problem of terrorism. It was never the intention of the UPA.
