Police arrested 25 Tibetans in Mumbai
Police has arrested 25 Tibetans in Mumbai on Thursday as they tried to storm the Chinese consulate.
The protest came amid nationwide demonstrations by Tibetan exiles coinciding with the India leg of the Beijing Olympics torch relay, which is set to take place under tight security in the capital New Delhi.
A senior official of Police said, “We have arrested nearly 25 people from outside the consulate, our vigil will continue through the day”.
Protests against China’s rule of Tibet have been reported across India, which is home to at least 100,000 Tibetan refugees including exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.
