Mayawati suspended SHO, doctor in Maharajganj case
Mayawati, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has suspended SHO of Maharajganj Kotwali & the government doctor, who examined a rape victim & gave a false report. Meanwhile, former minister Jamuna Prasad Nishad was sent to jail after a court in Maharajganj sent him to a 14-day judicial custody.
Protesting against the action of Maharajganj Kotwali Police in which a case of rape was alerted to that of molestation, Nishad & his supporters had allegedly indulged in violence at the said police station late on Saturday night. They also opened fired in which a police constable was killed. Mayawati sacked Nishad, who was minister for fisheries. He was asked by the chief minister to resign on Sunday.
Nishad was arrested from Lucknow & taken to Maharajganj. He was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Maharajganj after which he was sent to judicial custody as the police did not seek his remand.
