Maoists blasted Railway track during Bihar Bandh
Maoists have blasted a railway line near Jaimurtinagar railway station on the Sitamarhi-Raxual section on Thursday during the 24-hour bandh called by them in north Bihar to protest against the arrest of their leader. The bandh was began on Wednesday night. Armed Maoists detonated dynamites & blew up tracks in a 15 feet stretch near the station in the early hours, disrupting rail traffic on the section for several hours.
All police stations in the state have been put on alert & patrolling intensified while special attention was being paid to protect railway tracks - a soft target of the Maoists in the recent past. Important trains are running with pilot engines for the safety of passengers & East Central Railway announced cancellation or diversion of routes of several trains because of the bandh.
The bandh has been called to protest the arrest of senior Maoist leader Ramparvesh Baitha, who is wanted in 34 cases of violence. He was arrested from Golghar in Patna on May 9 last year.
