Manyata on Friday moved an application to cancel the controversial residence certificate she submitted to register her marriage with actor Sanjay Dutt in Goa.
The request by Manyata to authorities in Salcete taluka in South Goa is treated as her reply to the show cause notice issued earlier by Salcete taluka’s Mamlatdar, a senior revenue official Paresh M Fal Dessai, asking why the residence certificate should not be cancelled.
A marriage registration in Goa requires a residence certificate stating at least six months of stay in the state. But Manyata’s residence certificate was suspended doubts over her claim that she had been staying in a residential colony in South Goa for six months.
The registration of their marriage in Goa was later put on hold. The revenue officer had asked Manyata to be present on February 19 to explain the validity of the document. But her lawyer asked for two weeks & March 9 was fixed for the hearing. Sanjay Dutt & his wife Manyata, however, opted out of their Goan marriage under Portuguese civil code.
