Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress chief, said today that the Left Front government has lost the moral right to remain in power in West Bengal because this CPM-led government was “corrupt” and has indulged in “unconstitutional” activities.

Ms Banerjee, who was sworn as Railway Minister in the Manmohan Singh team said, “The government has lost moral right to remain in power. It should accept the verdict of the people.” She said this in her first press conference after the oath.
She said that 11 of the Trinamool Congress activists were killed in post-poll violence and blamed that CPM cadre had torched houses of nearly 150 Trinamool Congress supporters at Raina in Bardhaman district.
Mamata further charged the state government not following the Constitution by saying, “After the (March 14, 2007) police firing on anti-land acquisition activists in Nandigram, the court said it was unconstitutional, the Governor said it was unconstitutional and even some non-CPM ministers described it as unethical.”
