6th August, 2012, New Delhi: Today, Trinamool Congress will attend a luncheon hosted by Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance, for the ruling coalition parties in New Delhi – a day before the vice-presidential poll.
According to sources, responding to the invitation by Sonia Gandhi, the West Bengal chief minister asked the TMC’s Parliamentary Party leader to be present at the luncheon with other TMC MPs. The decision to attend the luncheon is probably indicative that TMC is in favor of voting UPA candidate – Hamid Ansari, the former Vice – President. Earlier TMC has reservations regarding his candidature – like what they had before for the presidential polls. TMC chief’s directive to attend the luncheon also indicates the improving relations between the two allies.
Today, it is expected that the MPs of TMC will also meet to sketch their strategy for the monsoon session of the Parliament, which will start from 8th August.
