Left protests against fuel price hike, 12-hr bandh on
The CPI (M) has on Thursday called for a 12 hour bandh in Left ruled states of West Bengal, Kerala & Tripura to protest against the hike in the prices of petroleum products. The CPI on its part has announced a total shutdown in Kolkata. The bandh is near total in West Bengal, with Kolkata being the most affected. While in Kerala, the bandh is not as effective, with vehicles plying & trains running on schedule.
The government had on Wednesday hiked petrol & diesel prices by Rs 5 & 3 a litre & that of LPG by Rs 50 a cylinder, while sparing poor man’s cooking medium kerosene from any increase.
