Karunanidhi’s son Azhagiri acquitted in murder case
Azhagiri, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidh has been acquitted along with 12 others of murder charge. Karunanidhi’s son Azhagiri has been acquitted in the Kiruttinan murder case.
Azhagiri was accused of hatching the plot to stab & kill Kiruttinan, a staunch loyalist of Karunanidhi’s other son M K Stalin. The murder took place at a time when the sibling rivalry was at its peak.
Kiruttinan 66 years old was a three-time MP &was also on his way of gradually emerging as a strongman of the faction-plagued DMK in the south.
The prosecution had accused that Azhagiri had developed deep animosity against Kiruttinan, who was heading the Stalin faction in southern Tamil Nadu. Azhagiri was even jailed for three months together with the twelve other accused in the case.
