Karnataka bandh to be held on April 10
Various Kannada organisations have decided to go ahead with the Karnataka Bandh on April 10 to protest Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi’s statement that his government would go ahead with the controversial Hogenakkal water project. The date of Karnataka bandh is finalised.
Earlier, it was two dates, April 10 & 14, have been doing the rounds, it is because the bandh organisers have not been able to bring major political parties on board.
JD(S) has remained non-committal on supporting the bandh call. State JD(S) working president C Narayanaswamy said his party will decide on the issue after all pro-Kannada organizations unanimously decide on a date for the proposed bandh.
Vatal Paksha Vatal Nagaraj who is the president of Kannada Chaluvalialso echoed the same sentiments & urged people to participate in the bandh. Mr. Nagaraj said his party would hold a rally in Chamarajanagar on April 14. About 900 Kannada organisations would take part in the April 10 bandh.
