Heavy rains lashes Punjab, Haryana

Bringing down temperature, heavy rains lashed the North India for the third day on Friday affecting vehicular movement & inundating several low-lying areas. Heavy Rains in Patiala, Ludhiana, Punjab, Haryana have inundated low-lying areas & destroyed crops, especially of bajra & paddy which was ready for harvesting. Traffic jams were also reported in some places of Patiala.
Major rivers like Sutlej, Beas & Ghaggar, their tributaries & canals are also swollen due to the incessant rains, promting authorities to sound an alert in villages along the embankments. According to Met forecast, there could be heavy rains with thundershowers at most parts of Punjab & Haryana in the next 48 hours.
