Heavy rainfall in Hyderabad, Kerala
Andhra Pradesh & Kerala has been recieving heavy rainfall since Sunday in which eight people, including a school student, were killed. Five deaths were reported in Kurnool district & one from the Thiruvananthapuram. Two persons died near Thiruvananthapuram when lightening struck their houses on Sunday night, taking the toll in the heavy summer rains since last week to 13.
The deceased were identified as Rajesh 17 years old, plus-two student from Poovachal & Sajinold 27 years old from Nettayam near here. Heavy rains triggered by a low pressure over the Arabian Sea, were reported from Mantralayam in Kurnool district & other areas in Prakasam, Nizamabad, Nalgonda & Warangal districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Weather officials said that the heavy rain that started on Friday continued in various parts of coastal Andhra, Rayalseema & Telangana region damaging chilli & mango cultivation in particular & other crops in general.
Crops in 28236.23 hectares have been destroyed in the unseasonal rains in Kerala, resulting in a loss of Rs 109.54 crore. A total of 33 houses were fully destroyed & 495 houses partially damaged.
